The Power Of Positive Thinking
My name is Tom Callin and I am an alcoholic when it comes to positive thinking. No, I'm not literally drinking myself to death. But when it comes to positive thinking I am hopelessly addicted and a clingy, pathetic slave to thinking happy thoughts. Growing up in high scool I always knew that I had an addictive personality. I did drugs. I did women. I did alcohol, gambling and chronic masturbation. I was a compulsive liar. I would pick fights. I just couldn't stop doing whatever I discovered. But all of those habits were self-destructive. They were hurting me inside. Then I found a new addiction, an addiction worth fighting for. This addiction was called positivity. Optimism. Happy thoughts. The belief that things are not that bad and that there is good in all people, everywhere you meet. I am now addicted to positivity. And unlike my addiction to Prozac and Valium, positivity does not lead to suicidal thoughts. Oh I've heard a lot of cynics say things about me. That I need to be on medication or jailed or whatever. But those people thrive on an addiction of a different sort: NEGATIVE THINKING! You know the difference between positive and negative thinking? Positive thinkers go, "I think I can." Negative thinkers go, "I I know you won't." You see it's all about them not about you. But I AM TALKING TO YOU!!
And the point of this blog, just like the point of my whole life is to think positively and believe that there is good in your fellow man. What is with this spirit of paranoia going around lately? All this despair and criticism and negative thinking! I have news for you, people! Your neighbor doesn't want to rape you. Your ex-wife doesn't want to kill you. People in the middle east do not want Americans to die. It's all about the art of NEGOTIATION. Learning to communicate with people. Yes, PEOPLE. Like you and me.
There is a lot of paranoia on the Internet these days. People coming up with absurd stories about predators, scammers and fraud. Now does that sound like negative thinking to you? Yeah, I think so too. People on the Internet are not out to get you! They are people like you and me, who just want love, money and a reason to be alive.
I've received so many comments on scam publishers in recent months. Positive thinking says that now is the best time to be an Internet writer. There are millions of websites out there friendly to new authors and in desperate need of content. One of my good friends Laray Carr, or Quincy as I like to call him, (we go way back) has been getting tons of negative publicity for his startup company "LCP." They are launching 35 magazines in September. That's great, right? Well wouldn't you know some writers are calling this company a scam, saying that the owner is a notorious scammer wanted by police and that there's no way a new magazine could afford to pay $50.00 per article for 900 articles a month. But I am on the side of my good friend Laray. And Hope and Roger and all the virtual gang that are so busy these days. The truth of the matter is that ALL major magazine startups operate this way. What do writers know about magazine publication? Remember that positive thinkers realize that they do not know everything, unlike negative know it alls. The $50.00 articles mystery can easily be explained by the fact that LCP is very open to length, accepting anything from 500 to 2000 words per article. Writers are also allowed total creative freedom as long as they can write 20 articles a night. (And honestly what hungry writer can't?) Hey, The Great Gatsby was written in less than a week and it is one of the best novels of all time!) These panicky writers should try thinking positively about LCP. So they didn't register a website online until the last couple of weeks. So they took their website down when visitors started accusing them of plagiarizing covers of other magazines. It's called BUILDING SUSPENSE people!! LCP is preparing for one of the biggest magazine launches ever! 35 magazines in one month!
And I know there are some writers who still insist on being negative and pointing out all of this hearsay about LCP's address being traced back to a cross-dressing salon or something to that effect. I assure you Laray is a friend of mine and not a pansy. We used to play football together. That's right, I was the wide receiver. JUST LEAVE LARAY ALONE!
I have a lot of industry contacts. My good friends Mandi who owns Write Media, use to give me piano lessons. (And off the record a lot more lessons than just piano!) Don't you give me any negative nonsense about Write Media being a scam. The woman has written articles for Helium! What more proof do you need?
Stop doubting people and give of your heart. Think positively. If you work your butt off you WILL be paid. That's what my optimism addiction is all about.
Tom Callin is the sales coordinator for Writers Depository. It's a good thing he uses his powers for good and not evil because he could scam Leona Helmsley's dog out of 2 million dollars if he wanted to.
